You dispute the fees of your lawyer and file an appeal with the President of the Bar
You use a lawyer to represent you in proceedings. The latter's fees do not seem to correspond to reality or seem disproportionate to the diligence he performed. Despite your numerous letters, your lawyer continues to charge you fees that you feel are excessive.
You must appeal to the president of the bar association of the bar in which this lawyer is registered. The President of the Bar has the task of arbitrating conflicts between litigants and their lawyers, in particular concerning disputes over fees, disputes over the way in which the lawyer has handled your case (lack of diligence, overrun of deadlines, breach of the rules ethics, etc.).
Write to him by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. If he has not responded within four months or if his decision does not suit you, you can then appeal to the first president of the court of appeal within one month.
recommended letter with receipt note
Madam, Mr. President,
I would like to bring to your attention the dispute which currently opposes me to Maître (name and address to be specified), lawyer registered with the bar of (….). Indeed, we had agreed on a fee agreement amounting to (…) euros (see letter attached) as well as the scope of his intervention in my case.
However, Maître (name to be specified) unilaterally undertook new actions leading to an increase in these fees.
I therefore allow myself to seek your arbitration in this matter and ask you to examine the fees invoiced so that we can find an amicable outcome to this dispute.
While thanking you in advance for your interest in my request, please accept, Madam, Mr. President, the expression of my best regards.
