You are renting furnished accommodation and wish to give your landlord your leave

You are a tenant of a furnished rental accommodation and you wish to give leave. You can do this at any time under the sole condition of notifying your lessor one month in advance, as provided for in Article L. 632-1 of the Construction and Housing Code. And this even if your contract requires you, for example, to wait for the anniversary date or to respect a three-month notice. It is certainly a form dating from a time when the rental of furnished accommodation escaped any regulation and where the rental conditions, notably duration and notice, were freely fixed. This situation ended in 2005.

Dear,

I want to leave the accommodation you rented to me, so I will give you my leave for the (date more than a month away).

(If applicable) I have read correctly that my rental agreement does not allow me to terminate before (specify date) and with three months' notice.

You may not know it, but Article L. 632-1 of the Construction and Housing Code, which now governs the furnished rental contract, provides that "the tenant can terminate the contract at any time subject to compliance with a one-month notice ”. This provision is of public order, it applies despite the contrary clauses of the contract.

I would like to tell you that I will actually leave my accommodation on (date), so that we can agree on a date to carry out the inventory.

Please accept, Madam, Sir, the expression of my best regards.
