Presentation of the country

China wants to be a republic, hence its real name, the People's Republic of China (PRC), proclaimed in 1949 by Mao Zedong in Tian'anmen Square. But it could also be described as an authoritarian regime in fact, led by the Chinese Communist Party. Its flag consists of a red background with a large yellow star at the top left, with on its right four small stars of the same color surrounding the first in an arc. Red represents communism, revolution, while the symbolism of the stars represents the unity of the people around the Chinese Communist Party. The yellow symbolizes the light flooding the Chinese territory, the star of the Chinese Communist Party, and the four small stars the different Chinese classes (workers, peasants, petty bourgeoisie, patriotic capitalists). This flag was designed in 1949 by Zeng Liansong, shortly after the Communists came to power, and hoisted on Tian'anmen Square for the first time on October 1, 1949.
Currently, China has about 1,357,380,000 inhabitants, or more than one-sixth of the world's population, making it the most populous country in the world, where 52% of people are men. Geographically, its territory is 9,596,961 square kilometers according to the UN, which places the country as the third largest in the world. China is located in East Asia, and has many borders. It affects 14 countries, for a total border of 22 1117 km, which are Vietnam, Laos, Burma, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia (its largest border), Mongolia, and finally North Korea. China also has two seas east of its territory, the yellow sea in the north, and the East China Sea, which is Taiwan, which is also part of China. The capital of China is Beijing, to the northeast. Because of the size of the country, the Chinese territory has a lot of different landscapes, with in the east the big plains very populated, a semi-desert climate in the north, very hilly places in the south. The center of the country gives source to the two main rivers of China, the Yangtze and the Yellow River, while to the west we find the Taklamakan Desert and the Tibet Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world, which includes the Mount Everest, highest mountain in the world (8,848 m). Due to monsoons and dry seasons, there are significant temperature variations between summer and winter, between cold and dry winds from Siberia in winter and hot, humid winds from the South China Sea in summer.
The yuan (or renminbi, which both means "people's currency"), is the currency used on Chinese territory, with the exception of Hong Kong, which uses the dollar, and Macao, which has pataca currency, indexed on the Hong Kong dollar. With these two exceptions, the yuan is the Chinese unit of account, issued by the People's Bank of China, while the renminbi is the real currency. This currency has been in use since 1995, when the foreign exchange certificate (FEC), a currency reserved for foreigners, has been abandoned. Since 2005, the currency is Chinese indexed on the most important world currencies, and especially the dollar.
China groups 56 ethnic groups, called "nationalities", recognized under the Constitution of the PRC which highlights, besides the right of the soil, the right of blood, inspired by the ancient precepts of Russia. The main ethnic group, representing 92% of the population, is the Han, which is divided into dialects and regional variants of Mandarin Chinese. This ethnic group represents 1.3 billion people, it is thus the most important ethnic group of the world, represented in 90% on the Chinese territory. The other ethnic groups are therefore minorities. Similarly, Taiwan distinguishes 14 aboriginal minorities on its island. Almost all of these ethnicities have their own language, and one-third their own writing. By these ethnic groups, independentist demands are made, especially in Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, or Taiwan.
On the Chinese territory, because of the many varieties of populations, many languages are present: there are 81. Han, of the main ethnic group, is the national language, and one of the most spoken in the world. More than fifty minorities use their own language, and some have several languages. In the territory of the PRC languages can be divided into dialects, dialects and jargons, hence the difficulties in communication. The greatest differences of dialects exist in the south, knowing that two dialects can have a greater distance than two languages. Overall, the languages of China belong to four families: the northern language, Cantonese, the language of Min, and that of Wu.
Finally, China has a human development indicator, which is based on life expectancy at birth, the level of education, and the average standard of living, which is rising (0.719). which could situate China as a developing country and not developed. Nevertheless, China has been gaining places in the global ranking of HDIs in recent years, showing the country's progress in living standards, longevity and education. In fact, China's HDI growth is around 70% in 30 years, with growth in recent years surpassing all previous ones by around 0.7. We can also consider that this evolution will continue.

After this brief survey of the many characteristics of the country, we will focus on the more specific analysis of the risks associated with this inventory.
