The travel agency canceled the planned stay. You are requesting compensation

A travel agency which cancels a package trip (circuit, stay) in the month preceding the departure is required to notify its customers by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. It must then reimburse them for the deposits paid, but also pay them compensation equal to that which they would have had to pay if they had canceled (article R. 211-10 of the Tourism Code).

The payment of this compensation does not prevent you from claiming damages if the cancellation causes you quantifiable damage, for example if you had purchased equipment with a view to the trip and if it becomes of no use.

Dear,

I have received your letter of (date) informing me that the two-week stay in the (country) planned from (date) to (date) was canceled, letter to which was attached a check for reimbursement of the deposit that I had paid you.

As provided for in article R. 211-10 of the Tourism Code, I am also asking you for the sum of (…) euros, representing (…)% of the trip, i.e. the amount of the penalty that I would have incurred if I had canceled myself. I am counting on you to send me this sum within eight days.

Please accept, Madam, Sir, the expression of my best regards.
