Introduction
Since the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the situation of Russia, the largest continent state in the world, is particularly complex. The USSR breaks out into fifteen independent sovereign states, including Russia, which has inherited from the former superpower three-quarters of its territory, more than half of its population, two-thirds of its industry and half of its agricultural production .
Today Russia is a Soviet Federalist Socialist Republic presided over by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Its population is estimated at 142,500,482 in 2013 with a life expectancy of nearly 70 years. Its area is 17 098 242 km 2 and the country straddles North Asia and Europe. The territory extends over 9000km and has 9 time zones. Its capital is Moscow, its official language is Russian and its currency is the Russian Ruble. The Human Development Index (HDI) in 2012 was 0.788 (high index). It should be noted that 110 people hold 35% of Russia's wealth in 2013.
economic and financial
Russia is one of the economically developed countries with a 2012 GDP of USD 2,015 trillion.
With hydrocarbon reserves and a transport network to Europe and Asia, it is an essential energy partner for European countries. The hydrocarbon industries provide it with significant revenues (30% of its GDP in 2010).
In the future, Russia intends to keep this pre-eminence, hence its interest in the Far North or the Caspian Sea. In 2011, Russia was the tenth largest economy in the world.
However, Russia is struggling to control its vast space. 75% of the Russian population lives in the west of the country on 25% of the territory. Russia fears a gradual annexation of its territories in the Far East by a Chinese population in strong growth. In addition, due to a northern climate, Russia has not been able to build a road and urban network comparable to that of a developed country. Apart from Moscow, St. Petersburg and the mining regions, the majority of Russian regions suffer from decay.
Russia's growth slowed in 2012 and the trend for 2013 was not better, however, the Russian economy is resilient in a depressed international economic context. The main driver of the Russian economy being private consumption will continue to be supported by wage growth driven by still low unemployment, but will be constrained by the acceleration of inflation and a less expansionary fiscal policy.
Russia lives on its achievements and not on its innovations. It failed to boost its disaster areas by renovating their production tools or investing in prospecting and developing new deposits. It lags behind in advanced technologies or consumer goods industries. Its economy is essentially based on its hydrocarbon exports.
Russia meets extreme climates. Indeed, some areas such as the plains of western Siberia are accompanied by temperatures up to -27 ° C in winter, and -43 ° C in eastern Siberia.
- Frequent earthquakes, but of very small magnitude.
- The main health risks in Russia are diseases transmitted by insect bites or by contact with animals (Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis, for example); diseases transmitted by water, the environment or food; diseases transmitted by interhuman contact (tuberculosis for example).
Very high literacy rate, among the highest in the world (100% literacy).
- Extremely rich culture in Russia (writers, painters, sculptors, actors, directors, museums, monuments, theaters, cinemas ...)
- Since the fall of the USSR, the Russian television landscape has changed a lot. The web and globalization have outbid these changes.
- The Russians have long been at the highest level on the web. They show it regularly through their often inventive and creative websites and the quality of their webmaster and computer scientist.
- Permanent increase of internet users.
