Hotel accommodation is expensive or very expensive. The choice of hotels is great for a tourism and business clientele, especially in Muscat and Salalah. Several establishments have private beaches and recreation centers on the coast.

There are some more economical hotels in Old Muscat, close to the Mouttrah Fish Market.

On the main roads, there are some "Rest Hotels" or motels whose prices are very interesting.

In high season (April to October), make sure to book your overnight stays well in advance.

Camping, camping, bivouac

It is possible to pitch your tent independently anywhere in Oman, with the exception of natural reserves, subject to specific legislation. In any case, you must ask the villagers if you want to camp near a village.

Do not expect properly landscaped campsites. Typically, these are desert-style Bedouin-style camps (such as the Ash Sharqiyah Sands desert dune camps, or the Al Areesh camp in the Wahiba Sands desert). There are also camps on reserves, on the beach, or in the mountains (near Al Hamra). We can also camp around wadis and in Jebel Akhdar, a real gem! So we often camp in the middle of nature, in exceptional sites.

Some camps offer tents or hard rooms.

Generally, the prices are reasonable and these camps offer all the modern comfort. The ideal season for camping is from October to April, but even in summer, one can camp on the Omani peaks like Sayq Plateau, Salma Plateaus and Jabal Shams.
